This week we are beginning our next assignment using Gustav Klimt for our inspiration. We will be using decorative pattern, paint, and collage.
Below are sample Gustav Klimt images for inspiration:
For emphasis, students will do the following:
1. Create a Niche in their altered books (following the steps from the video) 2. Design a 2 page spread of their choice and use the Niche as a point of Emphasis. 3. Include the Title: Emphasis and definition somewhere on the 2-page spread. (This video is old, but it does a good job of showing how to create a Niche for the Emphasis 2-page spread.) Keep it up, you are doing beautifully! Below are some quality images from previous classes to give you inspiration!
Funko Pop Yourself!Funko Inc. is an American company that manufactures licensed pop culture collectibles, best known for its licensed vinyl figurines and bobbleheads. You've seen these around! There are all sorts of pop culture and historical figures created. Did you know that famous artists were made into Funko Pop Characters? In this option, you can either Funko pop yourself, or an artist who is alive now, creating art. (if you are creating a character based on an artist, be sure to include a photo and name of the artist you are creating along with the Funko pop drawing.) If you Funko pop yourself, be sure to add accessories of things that describe who you are. Be sure to post this to your blog! You may want to copy the character blanks below to get you started: Here are some student samples: Below are the artists with their Funko Pop selves:

Today we used a variety of techniques to add interest to a blended watercolor background. We added salt, rubbing alcohol, and plastic wrap to create interesting textural effects.
Today we are using the charcoal pencils to fill out the value shading practice sheet for a formative assessment grade:
We will use VINE charcoal for the medium to light values and charcoal pencils (6B to 4B) for the dark to medium values.
When you are ready to move to the next step in your altered book, be sure to check out the video below.
We will be using the markers on the rolly cart. Pick the cups for your table color! |
