Guidelines
- You should work on one piece of art every day using only water-soluble media
- We will provide optional prompts, but feel free to do your own thing
- Don’t forget to link back to us and tag us at the end of your post (details are shown below) We might even link back to your best picture on our own!

Tips to make things a little more manageable
- Don’t attempt anything too complex, unless you want to of course.
- Work fairly small if you are short on time
- If you prefer to spend longer on each piece, you could spend a little time each day of a more detailed piece of work and share your progress daily.
- Try working on toned mixed media paper or tinted watercolour paper
- Experiment with different surface papers – smooth, rough etc
- Try combining watercolour with ink, water-soluble pastels, water-soluble pencils, or any other water-soluble media.
- Try experimenting with salt, wax and other techniques to add pattern and texture

For ‘Quick Kick January’ we are challenging you to take an abstract photograph every day throughout the month of January.
You could try taking photos very close to objects, moving the camera as you are taking a shot, shooting objects at unusual angles or experiment with your own ideas.
A challenge like this is a wonderful way of seeing beauty and interest in things that you might not otherwise.

Tips to make things a little more manageable
- You could take your photo during your commute or your lunch hour.
- Keep your eyes open and a camera or phone on you all the time. You never know when inspiration might strike
- Stop after 15 minutes.
- You could have a theme for all of your photos – such as buildings or plants etc
- You could experiment with filters and effects after you have taken your photo
- Your photo doesn’t have to be digital, you could go old school and use a 35mm camera and film or an instant camera if you prefer
October Challenges
Lots of cool things happening in the art world in October! If you are on twitter or Instagram, there are some great art challenges out there. One of the most famous is INktober where you create an artwork each day out of ink in the month of October. To help, there are prompts (see below). Feel free to participate in any of the challenges and be sure to #KellArt if you do!!
INKTOBER RULES AND PROMPTS:
1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it*
3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2019
4) Repeat

National PTA Reflections Awards Each year, students in Pre-K through Grade 12 are invited to create and submit original works of art in the areas of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts.
Based on State PTA rules and guidelines, these works of art may be submitted for state and national level awards and recognition opportunities. Of the national-level submissions, over 200 student Reflections participants will receive the following awards from National PTA:

The Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District (the District) is hosting the inaugural Water Drop Dash 5K T-Shirt Design Contest in preparation of the 7th Annual Water Drop Dash, hosted in partnership with the Chattahoochee Nature Center. The Water Drop Dash celebrates EPA WaterSense’s Fix a Leak Week, March 18-24, 2019. Fix a Leak Week highlights the importance of finding and fixing leaks in and around your home and encourages everyone to be good stewards of their water resources.

STATE FISH ART CONTEST--DUE March 1st
This is a great opportunity to show of your artistic talents! Create a drawing or painting of an official state fish for this contest. See sample previous winners below.
Pick a fish from the official fish list and then use the computer to research reference images. You can choose 1-3 images and place them on a word document to print out. Then use these images to draw out your fish design. Add color using paint or drawing media.
