Today, we will begin working on a cover design for our altered books. You will need to create a thumbnail sketch in your sketchbook first, and then draw out your design onto the cover. Below are some examples of covers created in the past: Other examples I found on the Internet:
For emphasis, students will do the following:
1. Create a Niche in their altered books (following the steps from the video) 2. Design a 2 page spread of their choice and use the Niche as a point of Emphasis. 3. Include the Title: Emphasis and definition somewhere on the 2-page spread. (This video is old, but it does a good job of showing how to create a Niche for the Emphasis 2-page spread.)
When you are ready to move to the next step in your altered book, be sure to check out the video below.
We will be using the markers on the rolly cart. Pick the cups for your table color!
Students will receive 1 bonus point for each day checklists are turned in early!-- ALTERED BOOKS: Altered Books are due on Thursday, December 12th. The cover is worth 1 project grade and the inside pages are worth 2 project grades. Rubrics can be found below:
WEEBLY BLOG CHECKLIST: The weebly blog should be completed no later than Friday, December 13th.
Below is the final checklist for your altered book. The cover counts as a project grade by itself and the interior pages count as two project grades. Be sure to let me know which 3 interior pages you want me to grade for quality and craftsmanship.
Altered Books are due no later than May 18th. (or whatever day your final is if you are a senior). If you are done early, you may turn it in early. Be aware, there are some ways to earn bonus points!!
