I've just found out that one of my favorite contemporary artists, Julie Mehretu, is coming to the High Museum on October 24th. Her work is amazing!! It's so full of layers some realistic, but mostly abstract. Her MARK-MAKING is so intriguing!!! She always has some sort of investigation and/or question that she is working through when creating each one of her pieces. She works LARGE and has a team of assistants to help her with her creations. I hope you all will get to go to the High Museum and be able to experience her work for yourself. Below is a little taste:

WHITE COLORED PENCIL ON BLACK PAPER STILL LIFE! Take a moment to grab 3 still life items around your house. (you may want to put a light source onto the trio of objects). Be sure to arrange the objects in an interesting/artful way. Take one hour to quickly sketch the objects and add values with the white colored pencil. (remember with white on black, you are "drawing the light." ) Painting to do for Tuesday: 1. Finish playing exploring with watercolor (Use the 12 watercolor techniques ) 2.
