Altered Books are due on Thursday, December 12th.
WEEBLY BLOG CHECKLIST:
The weebly blog should be completed no later than Friday, December 13th.
Today we began creating our materials that will be used in the Texture Altered Book page. We created intense, wet watercolors (in analogous color schemes) and then added salt, rubbing alcohol, and plastic wrap to get textural effects. We then created texture rubbings by going on a scavenger hunt around the classroom to find lots of cool textures. Next, we created a complementary color wash on our altered book 2- page spread that will become the background. Tomorrow we will put it all together!
Don't forget that you need to pick a color scheme for your texture watercolor still life. You can pick from any of the following color schemes:
Be sure to have a color pow-wow with Mrs. Denison to be sure you have a good color scheme choice. (below are examples of some of the color scheme choices)
Don't forget to include the following:
Also, one thing that may help you is to take a photo of the area in your view finder. Then put a black and white filter on it and it will help you see values better. This way, when you add values with watercolor, you know where the darks and the lights will go.
Today are working on creating drawings in 2 point perspective. These are great for doing things like cool, science fiction landscapes! These will be a part of our SPACE page on our altered books.
Students will work on a rough draft using two point perspective. They will need to have at least 7 boxes with at least 2 spots of overlapping. Once they draw their boxes, they will add, windows, doors, niches, etc. They may also embellish the boxes with pipes, ladders, winding sidewalks, etc.
Students have begun drawing out their Superheroes for their Talisman project. They will be required to add shading using colored pencil with light, medium, and dark values.
Students will also add stamping to their background. It should be clustered around their focal point. Only TWO COLORS should be used.
