Hi Printography! Watch the video critique over last week's Childhood Without Children AND an explanation on this week's Photo Friday assignment, Desolation, Lonely, Singled Out.
Option #8: Chalk Prints!
Have fun making these Chalk Prints! These were inspired by one of my favorite instagram art teachers, Cassie Stephens @cassie_stephenz Don't worry if all of them don't come out, just post your results and have fun. It's more about the process than the product with this one!
Supplies needed:
Option #7: Photo compositions with Ordinary Objects
Take ordinary objects from around your house and make a collection of at least 3 faces. Take photos of each face you create and upload them to your blog! Have Fun!..........OR......
OR......Create a MONOCHROMATIC composition with objects from around your home. Place them in a pleasing composition on a neutral background and photograph your results. Then, post the image to your blog! ........
....OR.......Take a nature walk. Collect natural materials to create a face. Compose these on a simple surface and photograph them. Upload the photograph to your blog! ............OR........
Use natural materials to create an animal or creature! Compose these on a plain, simple surface. Photograph the composition and upload it to your blog.
Option #6: Alphabet Photography
Go on a scavenger hunt and take photos of things that resemble letters in the alphabet. Take as many as you can and use them to create a short phrase.
Or, this is another good alphabet prompt from @theartcriminal
Option #5: Patterned Pop Up Photograph
Use a photograph that YOU have taken, print it out, and make it POP UP with these instructions!! Post your final image to your blog. (you may want to show a second photo at an angle of how it's popping up.) This can be in black and white, or color. You could also digitally manipulate the photograph first using the Pixlr App.
Option #4: Digital Layers
You may use the Pixlr App or Pixlr editor to create the layers described in the attached document. Carefully read the attached document to add multiple layers in a digital photographic collage. Make sure all the photographs taken are yours, DON'T steal from the internet!
Some of you were asking if you could do multiple layers using the Pixlr app. The answer is YES! Check out the video tutorial below.
Option #1: James Brunt inspired....(also Look at Andy Goldsworthy)
Check out this wonderful article on the artist, James Brunt. He creates mandalas out of natural materials and then photographs them. https://www.thisiscolossal.com/2018/02/james-brunt-cairns-and-mandalas/
Mandalas are from the ancient Buddhist and Hindu traditions of creating circles all balanced around a central point. They were used to represent unity in the universe and were very meditative. In modern society, they are still used for meditation and relaxation. The act of making a mandala is very meditative and relaxing. For this assignment, you will create your own mandala from natural materials and photograph it. Be sure to photograph it from multiple angles to get the best composition. Beware of too much negative space/ distracting backgrounds. Option #2: Andy Goldsworthy Option...
Below are images from Andy Goldsworthy. He is the original nature sculptor who made installations out of natural materials. These would be temporary because he would use no glues or cement or anything. They would just get destroyed over time. He did document his works with photographs just like the artist, James Brunt. Here is a great article on Andy Goldsworthy: https://www.boredpanda.com/land-art-andy-goldsworthy/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=organic
You may be more inspired by Goldsworthy, but again, make your creation and document it with lots of photographs. Option #3: Pixlr App, photo editHello Printography!!
For now, I want you all to really focus on your Photo Friday homework. (see previous post). Make sure you are posting images to the blog. You can also work on some of the photography extension choices from the Photography extension page. (two of these are due by the end of the year.). kellhighschoolart.weebly.com/printography-extensions.html Tomorrow, I will post the first of many options you can do as a project grade using the Pixlr app on your phone or device, so be sure you are downloading that app. (you will choose one of the projects I upload to post to your blog for project grades each week during distance learning.) |
